Makeup Sponges

I wondered what all the hype was about Beauty Blender makeup sponges and so I finally tried one.

I’ve got to say they give you a very smooth look….almost an airbrush look.  The great thing is when using them damp….you have to use very little actual foundation.

Get them good and wet, squeeze out the excess….dip the sponge in your foundation and stipple to blend then set it with powder.  The sponges that are pointed on one end work awesome in the eye area and around the nose.

Of course, the downside, you have to clean after each use.  At Wild Style Studio we have found that an actual Beauty Sponge Cleaner such as:  Sonia Kashuk (from Target) works great.

Make it a GREAT Monday.

WOW what a beautiful day outside.  I had the day off (not really) but I was doing something FUN.  Every other Monday is Wedding Planning Monday….and that was today with an early start and lots of wedding appointments SO I’m getting this out a little later than I wanted but I’ve been thinking about this post for weeks.

I’m a little excited about this product….OK more than a little excited …..I’m REALLY excited.  I’ve always been a believer in a skin care routine.  Mine has changed throughout the last few years because I have bouts with Rosacea and Adult Acne (woohoo how exciting is that?).  In January and February my skin gets pretty flaky even though it’s oily at the same time…during that time I was using Neutrogena cleanser and Clinique toner.

I was in Ulta and the Esthetician started talking to me about skin care and asked if I was familiar with Demalogica products.  I told her I had heard about them but never tried them so she gave me a couple of samples.

That night when I used them I LOVED how they made my skin feel.  I was back at Ulta the next day to check them out closer and discovered that they offer trial kits for $35.00.  The products are sample size and valued more than the selling price so I purchased the Oily skin kit and the Esthetician threw in a sample of Pre-Cleanse.

Skincare Trial Kits

I’ve been using them for almost 2 months……these are the 5 that were in the Trial Kit.

Dermal Clay Cleanser  (that’s for oily skin)

It’s a very invigorating cleanser and leaves your skin feeling great.  It’s water-soluble Kaolin and Green clays combine with purifying extracts of Sambucus, Ivy and Lemon to remove excess oils and refine the skin’s texture.

Skin Prep Scrub

A skin polishing scrub for all skin conditions.

Multi-active toner

I still can’t quite get used to the fact that you spray it on….but it is very refreshing and helps condition the skin.

Oil Control Lotion

This is a feather-light lotion that hydrates while reducing shine.

Total eye care

This brightens, smoothes and conceals.

I also ended up purchasing Pre Cleanse……because I loved the sample she had given me.

Pre-Cleanse  is a deep-cleansing oil that melts impurities and make-up from skin.

If you’re looking for another option for Skin Care……check Dermalogica out at Ulta.

Make it a GREAT week.

Makeup Monday (well almost)

Makeup Monday (well almost)

It used to be that about half way through the workday I would look like I didn’t have any mascara on. So I think it was last year – I started layering my mascara.

I have found that the best way to do this:

First curl your top lashes with an eyelash curler (my favorite is Japonesque).

STEP 1   Apply primer and wait just a few seconds

STEP 2   Apply 1 coat of a lengthening mascara

STEP 3   Follow with 1 coat of a volumizing mascara.

I’ve used LOTS of Mascara’s:  Revlon, Maybelline, Cover Girl,  Lacome, Clinique, Estee, Napoleon, Smashbox, Tarte – but I believe the secret is more in the layering than the mascara.

RIGHT NOW my favorites are…..

STEP 1   Clinique Primer

STEP 2   L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara – it has a really neat brush with a flat side to lengthen lashes and the other side is a comb to separate lashes.

STEP 3   Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies – it fills in the gaps and has a flexible curved wand.

Mascara only lasts 2 -3 months so I’m sure I’ll try something new with the next purchase….and who knows….it might be my new favorite.

What’s your favorite mascara???

Make it a GREAT week.

I just have to say….I LOVE getting a bargin.  It’s always great to find something for a “steal” BUT it’s even better when the product turns out to be great.

I have been using this liner for probably a year or more.  I have used several department store brands that have a cost of over $25.00 a pop and so I was thrilled when I found this.

Next time you’re at Walgreens check it out.  Made by Jordanna….

Felt-Tip Precision

It’s great and lasts all day long at only $1.99 each.
